A wonderful news story came to us recently from one of our customers….
Tel: 0115 944 5555
Advanced Roofing & Cladding (Derbyshire) decided to celebrate a milestone birthday for the Managing Director, David Hartshorn, by taking one of his first rubber melters from a rusting heap, it was purchased from Horrods’ in 2004 that David would not part with, and turning it into a surprise that he could be proud of, and just look at that pride! Louise Hunt, Operations Manager told us; “It was in such bad condition, I wish I’d taken before pictures. Our MD, David Hartshorn was never going to part with it so, for his 60 th Birthday we have decided to make it a feature, rather than leave it tucked behind some storage cabins. So we have had blasted and re-sprayed in our Advanced orange colour – not sure if the top part was black originally, but spray man said it would break up the colour for our display.” Like Horrods, Advanced Roofing & Cladding is a family run and owned business. David has his family working with him; Lisa the FD (wife), his daughter Olivia (Accounts Assistant), Charley, his son, Junior Contracts Manager, and Louise, Operations Manager (sister-in-law) We were very moved at David’s affection for that first Rubber Melter, considering when it was made, our father, Terry Horrod (1940-2009) was still at the helm.
The newly ‘blasted and resprayed’ Rubber Melter, and David Hartshorn celebrating his 60th Birthday proudly posing with ‘his’ Melter.
Celebrating a milestone is always important. We at Horrods would like to wish David a very happy 60th Birthday!
The Advanced Melter, sitting outside the business will soon have a place inside. Thank you, Louise for letting us know. We really do appreciate it, and it is particularly lovely to have a colourful piece of both our companies history so proudly displayed.

Chatting with our guest speaker

Horrods likes to support the industry. This year we sponsored the guest speaker who just happened to be the England legend, Stuart Peace. A man whose dedication to his field of endeavour is well known, and admired. A good fit for the Annual event MAC Dinner and awards ceremony. Where excellence is rewarded. Our guests for the event were Tony Speroni and Danny Finlay. Hope they had as good a time as we all did. Congratulations to the winners, recognised for outstanding contributions and excellence in their work and industry.
